Email and Internet Issues

Are my parents the only ones who think that email and internet are the same thing? A few weeks ago just before the new year my dad called to tell me he could not get on the internet. I asked him if he meant unable to get his email or unable to get on the internet since there is a difference. Anyway, he keeps telling me it is an internet issue so my hubby and i go over there and after some more questioning find out they cannot download their email into outlook express it keeps rejecting their password. Anyway, after a little research my husband finds the problem and fixes it. He also sets up an icon so if the settings get messed up again with a power outage then all they have to do is click the icon and settings are restored. Well Wednesday of this week my mom tells me that they cannot get on the Internet. Again I asked Internet or is it an email problem. I find out they cannot download email again settings are all messed up again. I asked if they had tried to use the icon that my husband had set up and I was told that did not work then they tried to follow the written instructions that hubby left that did not work either. Again after some research problem fixed and icon working. I asked dad again did you click the icon setup for you. His answer was yes he double clicked, single clicked and oh yeah the other term he used was side clicked. What exactly is side clicking? Anyway, my husband told me the other day on the way over to my parents that I was trying to get a free dinner from them by waiting till 3pm to go over there. Anyway, I told him If i was trying to get a free meal out of my dad I would call him and say I am hungry what time is dinner? Dad wound up buying us pizza for dinner since we fixed his problem. I told my mom I should start charging for Art's services as we are over there once every couple of months. Their problem seems to be tied to power outages but we still cannot figure out how it happens.
