Networking and Craft Fairs

Well I had a good showing at the Madison Street Festival earlier this month.  I had quiet a few custom orders and I am currently working on two more as we speak.  I also have an opportunity to do a craft show this weekend.  It was a last minute thing but I am so glad to be able to get into it on Saturday.   It is called Holiday House and is held at a local church.  A friend of my mothers told me about it.   So please come see me on Saturday at Southwood Presbyterian church on Carl T Jones dr in Huntsville.   On another note I have found a relatively new social networking site dedicated to beaders.    I think it is awesome that someone would create a social networking site just for beaders.  It is like myspace combined with ebay.   You can sell your Jewelry for free on there.   Another social networking site for crafters same concept.  Social networking and you can sell your Jewelry for free again...

Where has September gone?

I was just looking at the Calendar the other day and realized just how close we are to some major holidays.   I have been working on getting some stock for my store and also for the Madison Street Festival next weekend.  I will most likely be working from now until friday.  I will also have some Christmas themed jewelry out as well.   If I don't update much between now and the street festival that is why.

It is a crafty weekend

Today the hubby and I went to the Monte Sano Art Show.    I had never been before.  It was nice to see something different.  It was a nice weekend to do that.  I also walked around to the Jewelry booths so I could see what kind of pieces the artists were showing.   All of the jewelry I saw was different and Unique.   Tomorrow is also the last day for the NEACA craft show.   This is one the larger craft shows that we have in the area.  I plan to go tomorrow to see some more jewelry.  Last summer I picked up beading and making my own jewelry.  I am also in preparation for my first craft show in two weeks.  I will have a booth at the Madison Street Festival.    I am looking forward to it with anticipation.

Chris Pirillo's tips on good blogging

So I have been following Chris Pirillo for a few years now since we attended his Gnomedex Conference in Des Moines Iowa in 2002.  In fact we went to 3 of his Gnomedex Conferences 2 were in Iowa which was really nice because we only lived 3 hours away.  The thrid one we attended was in Lake Tahoe which was a lot of fun.   Anyway, back to my point.  Chris has been blogging for years and has always had some good tips for his readers and this one is no exception.    I think he is does a good job of finding new content to post on a daily basis.  I really wonder how he does it.   I have been blogging on and off since 2002 and find myself having a hard time finding something worthy to blog about.  I love blogging just have trouble finding content.

Webgrits is Back

Well I know it has been awhile since I have posted something.  This summer has been a quick one.  A few weeks ago we spent a long weekend out at the beach in Fort Walton with some friends.  They had to go for work and had some extra room and invited us down.  I should say that the friends we went with are like family to us.  My best friend from High School and her husband introduced me to my husband 18 years ago.  Anyway, we had a great time at the beach.  After breakfast this morning we came home and I was checking out my blog feeds on my yahoo and noticed that an old blogger is back.  I really enjoyed reading her up until Dec of 2005 when she took a break from blogging.  I was excited to see in my blog feed she had a new post up.  Welcome back Webgrits we missed you.  I look forward to reading more of your entries.

Social Spark The Social network Paid to Blog Service

Image
Are you looking to make some extra money and make friends? SocialSpark is a social network and paid to blog service. What I like about it is that you can network and get paid to blog at the same time. Most paid to blog services do not have the social aspect built into it. SocialSpark code of ethics include 100 % disclosure that means putting a piece of code at the end of your post to show that you are being paid for the opportunity. The other aspect of their code of ethics is 100% transparency that means that every participant in Social Spark is viewable to the public. If that is not something that you want then I would rethink joining. You get real opinions from people who own the product being talked about. Depending on the agreement with the advertiser you can write anything you want about the product. SocialSpark does not have any restrictions on what you post. It is your responsibility to pick opportunities that best suit you and your blog. And last but not least it is 100% sea...

An institution that will never be the same

Growing up in Huntsville I always thought it was weird that only one Mcdonalds had the single arch. Now as an adult I am kind of sad to see it go. It was only one of two signs left and now it will be in a museum. I guess all good things must come to an end. It will be kind of odd driving by and not seeing the single arch anymore.

Panoply Arts Festival

Well it is almost that time of year again. Panoply festival of the Arts is April 25 th to 27 th . If you have never been I highly recommend it. They always have local talent which is always nice to see the local people perform. When I was in High School our Choir performed at Panoply. It was fun to be a part of it mostly because you could get out of school early to practice for shows like that. I remember the first year that they had the Arts Festival I was 5 th grade. I had broken my toe and had it in a cast and boy was it warm that spring. I spent the better part of the summer that year with the cast on. We went to the Knoxville Worlds Fair and I still had that thing on. Anyway, enough down memory lane here. If you have not been to Panoply or are new to the area you should check it out.

Starbucks Standing By Tip Policy

I am a fan of Starbucks coffee and like to drink their White Chocolate Mocha on occasion. However, recently they have been ordered to pay 100 million in tips back to their employees in California. Other states have also filed suit regarding this. I do not agree with their policy that they should be sharing tips with the shift supervisors. I think that this policy is wrong and it makes me want to avoid the chain for treating employees in this manner. The Baristas are the ones that earn the tips by making your cappuccino's and lattes not the shift supervisors. Starbucks defends this policy saying that shift supervisors are not management. I think that after they wind up paying all these back tips that they are going to be in a worse position than they are currently in. They are already closing non profitable stores and also scaling back how many new stores they open. I hope that Starbucks changes their minds on their tip policy because it currently is not fair to their e...

Dept of Public Health Restaurant Ratings

I think it is great that the Alabama Dept of Health has established a website where you can access scores for restaurants. However while searching the website for places that we eat at frequently I discovered that some of the ratings are outdated. One restaurant that we go to very often with my mother in law shows their old rating of 83 when I know that the restaurant was recently inspected and raised their score from an 83 to an 86. The 83 is from their January Inspection. According the Alabama Dept of Public health scores that fall between 70 and 84 require a reinspection within 60 days. If a restaurant fails meaning that it does not make a grade of 85 then why not reinspect in 30 to 45 days versus 60 days. It seems to me that having an inspection more frequently will make sure that the restaurant is complying. I also feel that if an establishment is truly complying with the standards then the subsequent 30 day inspection will show more than a 3 point improvement on the sc...

Singulair Users at Greater Risk for Suicidal Thoughts

I find this article very interesting. I have been given this drug before for allergies. I have not taken it long term so I cannot speak for the side effects. I did not feel that it did anything for my allergies and wound up taking something else. I wonder at some point if I may get it prescribed again since I have asthma also.

Tornado Hits Downtown Atlanta

Last night Art and I were out at a club to listen to local band play. This particular club has Televisions on different channels. I happened to look over at the TV that was tuned to Fox News and at the bottom of the screen says possible Tornado hits downtown Atlanta. My first thought was wait I had been home most of the day and had thought that I had missed news from earlier in the day. My second thought was I hope that my sister, Niece and brother in law were okay since they live just north of where the Tornado hit. It was not until we got home around 11:00 or 11:30 that I found out that the Tornado had hit about 9:30 pm. One of the other Televisions had the Alabama and Mississippi State game on which was in overtime and being played in the Georgia Dome which sustained some damage. We were hanging out with some old classmates of his. Some Butler grads decided that it would be kind of cool to go to this bar and listen to a local band. The band was pretty good they play 80...

This Gives Customer Service a Bad Name

I am glad that I was not one of these travelers. I would be one ticked off person. It looks like the airlines finally tried to do right by the passengers but, for me it would be too little too late. I bet a lot of these passengers will be thinking twice about flying this particular airline anytime soon. I know I would think twice.

Mobile Student Commits Suicide at School

This is just awful. I cannot imagine having to witness it or much less children witnessing it. It seems like teens are in the news more for shootings at schools or committing suicide. I really feel for this kids friends and family having to go through this.

I am an Asthmatic with Vertigo Issues

I know most people will wonder why I am posting this? Well recent developments prompted me to post this. The title actually came to me while I was driving home from the Dr on Monday. Having been coughing and wheezing for about a week I decided it was time to have it checked out. I got up Monday morning and headed to the Dr office. I got there at 8:30 and did not get home until noon. Anyway, back to the coughing and wheezing after a few days I said to my husband that I wondered if it was Asthma. Over the weekend I quizzed my parents and sure enough along with my allergy issues I had Asthma as a child. I have not had problems in over 30 years so being diagnosed with Asthma was a surprise to me. The Dr told me it is not uncommon to not have a problem for long periods and then come back as an adult. I was also told that you never really outgrow Asthma you just go long periods like I have without any attacks. I find it hard that I have not had any Issues as my triggers as a child were Anima...

Airborne May Not Work

My sister swears by this stuff . She heard about it 2 years ago after she was sick when traveling. She does not leave home without it. Whether she is flying or traveling by car she has it with her. It was recommended to me at Thanksgiving when all I wanted to do was crawl into a hole and sleep. I tried it. It helped a little but, I do not carry it everywhere I go either. She even keeps some at my mom's house for my niece when she is visiting .

Rick and Bubba

I was listening to Rick and Bubba this morning on my local radio station while on my way to get a Java Monster. Anyway, they were talking about the troops in Iraq and is it a good idea to send the following entertainers to entertain the troops. First it was Jessica Simpson, followed by Disturbed and to close it out Comedian Carlos Mencia . They were asking who came up with this brainstorm and list of artists. Anyway, it was pretty funny as the only entertainer on that list that I like is Carlos Mencia he is crass but, makes me laugh. The others I could take or leave.

Things to Do In Huntsville

I was thinking of different things to do if you are new to Huntsville or if you are just visiting. The Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau has a list of attractions to see. Some of the places on here I had even forgot about. Alabama Constitution Village is always a good place to take your kids. I remember going on school field trips there as a student in elementary school. They have some interesting things about Alabama's History there. If that is not your speed then there is always Sci-Quest which is a hands on Science center for kids. I myself have never been as this was something that opened after I left the area and was out of School. Another favorite place is the US Space and Rocket Center. It is the home of Space Camp which just celebrated it's 25 anniversary last year.

Java Monster

First of all let me start by saying I am not a coffee drinker. I only recently started drinking coffee. My husband got me hooked on Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha which is just sweet enough to mask the taste of coffee. One day my husband was telling me about Java Monster and that they had a new flavor out that taste like Baileys Irish Creme. So about 2 weeks ago we found where they sell the Irish Flavored Java monster and it was quite tasty. So tasty in fact I had to try the Russian Blend which tastes like a White Russian again sweet and yummy. I recently tried the lo ball which is the lo carb version of Mean Bean. I have tasted both the Lo Ball and the Mean Bean while they both are tasty I prefer the Mean Bean as it does not leave the aftertaste that artificial sweetener does. The Lo Ball is a good substitute if you can't find Mean Bean. After having tried 3 of the 5 new Java Monster my favorites in order are Mean Bean, Irish, Russian and Lo Ball.

Virus Hoaxes

So my husband posted some tips about how to determine if an email you get is a hoax or if it is a true virus. This was prompted by an email that i received from my parents earlier in the week. The email that was forwarded to me was a hoax although it did have a link to a real virus that was confirmed on Snopes. The first time I got the email I deleted it. Second time a few days later my mom forwarded it with a note asking us to check it out so we did and sent her the response. Well yesterday the same email was forwarded yet again so we resent our response and more information regarding the hoax and how to tell. Now today I get yet another email that is a hoax that has been circulating the Internet for 8 years now. In the case of this email I responded to my parents and the person that sent them the email stating it is a hoax and that they should take the time to research these things before they hit the forward button. If you are going to send an email with a link saying that...

Vista SP1 may block some 3rd party apps

I was just telling my husband last night that SP1 will be available soon. He runs Vista on his new laptop and I still run XP Home on mine. I really see no reason to change from XP and I am happy with it. I know when I eventually get a new system it will most likely have Vista on it. I have a friend who recently got a new desktop and it has Vista and she has had issues with it using up lots of memory. Maybe if I wait long enough I can get a system that has an operating system that is not such a memory hog.

Wink Flash

A good friend of mine just told me about this web site where you can upload your pictures and print them. They will ship them to you in less than a week. Kind of cool. We had a conversation about this site the other day since I had just gotten Christmas pictures printed for my mom and sister. They appeal mostly to Scrapbookers which my friend is but, where else can you get pictures printed for 6 cents each. Most local places charge you about 19 cents a picture. I am not sure how long the sale is but, it is really a good price to get pictures developed. If only we took more pictures. Maybe next time I need to get pictures developed I will try them out.

One Gun Dealer two Campus Shootings

This is kind of creepy to me. How ironic is it that the same online dealer sold guns to two different campus shooters? I thought that we were supposed to have background checks and waiting periods for a reason.

Joran Van Der Sloot will not be arrested again

This makes me crazy. I have said before that I thought that he was guilty. I still believe that. It seems like every time I think that the Holloway Family will get closure something else happens that makes me doubt that Natalee's killer will get what he deserves. It also seems to me that he will get away with it too. That does not sit well with me at all that someone would get away with killing someone or even covering up what really happened to Natalee. The most recent set back is that the judge will not arrest Van Der Sloot again.

IOC will allow Blogging at the Olympics

I was surfing Google News and ran across this article about the Olympics and Blogging. I find it interesting that the IOC does not think of blogging as a form of Journalism but, as a form of personal expression. I think that it can be seen as both not mostly one or the other. Some people do use blogs solely for personal expression but, I see many journalists using blogging platforms to post their stories and not just their opinions about the stories. I am glad that they will let the athletes blog about their experiences at the Olympics.

Valentines Day

Where has February gone? It is hard to believe that tomorrow is Valentines Day. I hope everyone has a good Valentines. Is anybody doing anything special for Valentines? We normally go out but this year we decided to cook at home. We are going to have Steak and Baked Potatoes. I purchased the individually wrapped potatoes. Anyway, my husband was surprised that you could buy them one at a time. He goes shopping with me every now and then but, I guess he just does not pay as much attention as I thought he did when shopping. Does your hubby or significant other pay attention to what you buy or could he care less? Speaking of dinner I was at my dad's this morning and he had some homemade spaghetti sauce that he sent home with me. So tonight we have pasta and sauce for dinner.

No Microhoo

Way to go Yahoo. I like Yahoo for some things, google for some things and microsoft for very few things. I am glad that Yahoo is not going to accept the offer from Microsoft. Not to say that it would not have made for an interesting merger. It has definitely made for some newsworthy blogging for a lot of people.

Work on the Parkway

As if this section of the parkway was not a problem already. I suppose it will get worse before it gets better. This is a much needed and overdue project on that end of town. I guess that hubby and I will have to use all the alternate ways we know to get to my parents house. I thought it was bad in the midwest where we only had two seasons. Winter and Construction season. Parkway overpass from Whitesburg to Weatherly under way- al.com

Smokers Sleep Less

So this must be the reason why Art is such a pain to get up in the mornings when his alarm goes off. Here I thought it was all the caffeine that he drinks. Fortunately for me tomorrow will not be a problem for me unless he waits till noon to get up. Glad that the weekend is almost here.

Not Much of a Surprise

This is not much of a surprise. The timing however is and his reasons were kind of odd. One of his reasons was because if he stayed in till the convention then Hillary or Barack would win and considering he was running on the republican ticket and not the democratic. Just seems kind of odd to me all around.

Super Tuesday

Well today is Super Tuesday have you voted yet? I did it this morning when it was not very busy. Polls close at 7pm tonight. Hopefully everyone who wanted to have a say did their voting in the primaries today. I will be voting in November as well to elect our new president.

Wow Glad I do not live here anymore

I was just reading what today's weather would be like in my old home town. I have been gone over 1 year and a half now and still keep up with the weather there. I still have friends who live there. Boy do I feel sorry for them. A high temperature of 16 degrees is just too cold for me.

Your Credit Network Site Review

The web site for your credit network is easy on the eyes and is easy to navigate as well. With the site you can search for credit cards by bank and by features of the credit card. Are you in the market for a business credit cards? What about rewards credit cards or even a low interest credit cards? The web site is good for comparison shopping if you are in the market for a credit card. The features are what I look for in a web site used to comparison shop. You can also see that the credit cards are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 5 being the best. Meaning that card has all the features that you are looking for when shopping for credit cards. The blog that is associated with the site seems to updated 1 to 2 times a week sometimes more. Searching through the archives of the blog it talks about topics from instant approval cards to new credit cards that are available to consumers. One thing that I think would be helpful in reading the blog would to have archives by date as well as ...

Super Tuesday

Well, Super Tuesday is just one week from today. Be sure you cast your vote.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaners

Are you looking at buying a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner? Do you like to comparison shop? Wize is just the web site that you need to do all your comparison shopping in one place. You can shop by type of Dyson Vacuum Cleaner, by price and features. The web site it easy on the eyes and is also easy to navigate. Another feature of the site that i like is that it has a rating next to the product that you are looking at. The ratings system is a good way to see if you want to spend your money on the particular item. The lower the rating the less satisfied people are with that particular product. The higher the rating the happier people tend to be with the product.

Flock

The other day while I was surfing the internet I came upon this site promoting a opensource web browser. Another web browser you ask why? There is Mozilla and IE7. So what is so great about this new browser. Well one of the features that stood out to me was that built into the browser is blog posting software. All you do is enter the information and it discovers your account settings for the blog. That is one feature that I would like to see Mozilla roll out for firefox. Do I think that flock will replace Mozilla or IE7? No i do not but, I think that it does have its place on the internet and on peoples desktops. I am giving it a trial run and see what I like so far. Blogged with Flock

Funny Cat Pictures

So by accident I discovered this place. I actually discovered the link when my husband posted one on my myspace as a comment. Here is a link to the cat caption that I made. If you want a good laugh check out the place. It has some funny cat and other animal pictures as well.

New Publix Grocery Store

Yesterday, I posted how the new Publix in my area had opened up. Today I ventured out to pay a visit to the store. I was surprised at how large the store is. In fact it is much nicer than the other two Publix in Madison are. It has nice wide grocery aisles. The staff is helpful and friendly as well. Another plus is that I did not have to wait in line for a cashier either. That was a plus. They also have one thing the rest of the Publix supermarkets in the area do not. A place to return your cart to in the parking lot. I would have posted this as soon as I got home from the store but, my internet was down.

New Publix Open

I have been waiting for this for a year since it was announced that we were getting a Publix closer to our house. Until today I had to drive into Madison which is not that far but, I have to use a heavily traveled 4 lane highway. With the new one opening up not only is it closer to my house but, I can take back roads. I have not been yet as it just opened today. I will probably go check it out tomorrow since I will need to pick up a few things to make dinner tomorrow night. I know I am rambling on so I will stop now.

Fred Thompson Quits Presidential Race

I just read this in the breaking news section of my local paper. So does this mean he won't be on the ballot next week for Super Tuesday? He seemed to be doing well here in Alabama in fact last I heard he was a front runner here in the state. Oh well I guess they have to hang it up sometime when they know that they have been beaten elsewhere.

Kiefer out of Jail

Well, it looks like Kiefer is out of Jail today. Now if only we could settle the writers strike and get Season 7 of 24 sometime in the near future. I look forward to my Monday Night Kiefer fix.

Girl Scout Cookies

Well, it is that time of year again. I do not normally buy Girl Scout cookies but, I am making an exception since my niece is selling them. She just started Brownies this year. She is all excited about getting to sell cookies. I know that my sister will not take the order sheet to work to help out like our parents did when were kids. I was in Girl Scouts growing up. I can't tell you how many times I sold cookies. Then sometime in middle school I decided I had better things to do than be in Girl Scouts and I concentrated on other activities.

Orville Redenbachers

One of my favorite things to eat is popcorn. A few weeks ago we discovered Buttery Garlic popcorn from Orville Redenbacher. It is quite tasty. If you have not tried it you should. They have other varieties other than the Buttery Garlic but, I have not tried them. The one thing that I wish they would change is the packaging. It only comes in the snack size.

Atom feed

Where do I begin? Last night while I was trying to find out why my blog was not being indexed by Google I discovered that my atom feed was not working properly. I have had my feed enabled on my blog ever since Google AKA blogger had that built in. Anyway, after researching this I asked my hubby how that could have happened as I have never messed with the feed until last night. All this time I have been pinging weblogs.com but, my feed was not correct. This should have been a simple fix as much as I am in the settings area of my blog I should have been able to figure this out. I wound up spending hours on this problem that took me 10 minutes to fix of course with help from my hubby. When I started blogging there were not rss or atom feeds available. Before Google built that in if you wanted an rss or atom feed you had to put a little piece of code on your blog. I did not want to bother with that as I knew nothing about html. I still do not know a lot about html but, with som...

PF CHANGS

I am looking forward to this place opening soon. I have heard really good things about them and hope to try them sometime in the future. My local paper had an article that it is set to open this coming Monday. I think I will wait till it has been open a couple of weeks rather than try to go on opening night.

Sprint Loses More Customers

While reading Google news I discovered this article on Sprint Nextel . They lost more customers than they projected last quarter. In fact I was one of those customers. I had stayed with them for 9 years. I then decided I wanted a better phone only the phone I wanted was not available on their network. So I shopped around and received a better deal and better phone with AT&T. I am not surprised that they lost customers it was just the amount that they lost. If they would have offered better options for a smart phone PDA I would have stayed had I been able to get a competitive rate.

Image
The web site is easily navigated and gives a good amount of content on it. The colors of the web site are nice and not to flashy. It is very easy on the eyes. They offer hotel discounts , discounts on motels and discounts on resorts as well. Alabama Primaries Coming Up

Well, it is almost time for the Presidential primaries here in Alabama. I guess we are trying to be a key state now in who gets nominated. Anyway, we used to have the primaries in June but, for some reason the state decided to change that to Feb. Have you thought about who you will vote for? I have but, I still think all the candidates democrats and republicans are mediocre. They all say they are going to change something when they get to the White House. Are they really going to change things in Washington? I don't think so. As much as I would like to see a woman become President I do not think that Hillary is cut out for the job. I am not a fan of democrats or republicans and unfortunately I live in a state where you have to declare in the primary whether you are Republican or Democrat. Why won't Alabama let you declare yourself as independent and then you can vote however you want?

Weather

Why is it that the local weather man or woman says wintry mix and everyone in the south is in fear that we will be stuck in our houses and cannot get anywhere? We are due for a wintry mix in the higher elevations tonight and early tomorrow. I have lived in the mid west and northeast and they seem to handle snow or wintry mix so much differently than we do here in the south. The northeast seems to have it down to a science they have their salt trucks loaded and ready to go out and plow the streets. Whereas the mid west seems to have their trucks on standby and then when the snow or ice starts accumulating then they get the trucks ready to go. Having lived in both places I prefer the way the northeast handles things. The south however hears the word snow or wintry mix and everybody seems to panic and say should we close or not. 9 times out of 10 the weather person has made such a huge deal and then nothing comes of the wintry mix and we all panic for nothing. Having said al...

Hotel Reservations In Italy

First of all the web site does have a good bit of content on it. I do like that in a web site. Easy navigation is another plus for the site. The web page allows for searching by type of place you want to stay in like a bed and breakfast, apartment, hotel, or Country House. The site does have quite a bit of what I look for in a web site when I am shopping for hotels. It also gives the ability to search for hotels by city. When looking for Hotels in Rome , Hotels In Venice , and Hotels in Naples the web site does come in handy. Another feature that I like when searching for a hotel or any thing else on a web site is the ability to narrow it down by price. Other sections of the web site include being able to reserve airport transportation on line. There is also section dedicated to booking a guided tour on line. Last but, not least there is a section for virtual tours of Rome. All in all the web site gives good information and ability to search for your accommodations. The abov...

NBC Appealing Nevada Judge Ruling

How does this work when the debate is tonight? I am not a fan of republicans or democrats but, it looks like one candidate has gotten his feelings hurt. You are not invited to the debate so you sue. Isn't that a waste of time to take it to court and appeal it on the day of the debate. This had my hubby wondering if they would include Ron Paul in the debate this time.

Cheap Hotels

Although the web site colors are a little unappealing. It does have lots of content on it. That is one thing that I look for in a web site. If it is user friendly that is another plus for the web site. Not only can you search for last minute deals but, you can search for year round rates as well. Another feature of the web site is the ability to search for 3, 4, or 5 star hotels. The web site has a section for just Hotels in Italy. While in Italy there are lots of attractions to see such as the Sistine Chapel. The city of Venice is another place to see while in Italy. Not only can you search for Hotels in Italy but you can narrow it down by cities. You can look for Hotels in Venice. Some attractions to see while in Venice are Piazza San Marco, Gondola Rides and St Marks Basilica. While staying at Hotels in Rome some attractions would be:The Colosseum, the Vatican, Trevi Fountain. For more into on attractions in Rome. And last but not least while staying in Hotels In Milan som...

Wize

Although, the web site is not to flashy it does give lots of information on Hoover Vacuum Cleaners. You can narrow your search by types of vacuum cleaners such as, bag less, upright, canister vacuums and so on. Wize also lets you comparison shop by showing you the best price for the particular vacuum cleaner that you are looking for. Another feature of the wize web site shows you Rankings and Reviews of the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner in question. I find the rankings and reviews particularly helpful when searching for new appliances such as a Hoover Vacuum cleaner. Yet, another feature of the web site allows you to narrow down your search for a vacuum cleaner by price as well as by features. Although it is in beta I do find it to be user friendly and would recommend it to friends who are comparison shopping for Hoover Vacuum Cleaners.

Kids Playing Indoor Soccer

Have You ever watched children play indoor soccer? It is kind of cute watching a bunch of 4 yr old kid's try to kick the ball all at the same time. On Sunday we went to watch a friend of ours daughter play in her first soccer game. I don't have children myself but, I do get a kick out of some of the things that kids do. It is almost hard not to laugh sometimes when they do certain things.

Email and Internet Issues

Are my parents the only ones who think that email and internet are the same thing? A few weeks ago just before the new year my dad called to tell me he could not get on the internet. I asked him if he meant unable to get his email or unable to get on the internet since there is a difference. Anyway, he keeps telling me it is an internet issue so my hubby and i go over there and after some more questioning find out they cannot download their email into outlook express it keeps rejecting their password. Anyway, after a little research my husband finds the problem and fixes it. He also sets up an icon so if the settings get messed up again with a power outage then all they have to do is click the icon and settings are restored. Well Wednesday of this week my mom tells me that they cannot get on the Internet. Again I asked Internet or is it an email problem. I find out they cannot download email again settings are all messed up again. I asked if they had tried to use the icon...

Family Gatherings the Day After

Yesterday, I had posted about having a family gathering at my cousins. Anyway, we had a good time. I was able to see cousins that I do not normally get to see often. The food was quite tasty. We all love to eat. Anyway, I am hoping that my cousin will continue the tradition.

Family Gatherings

Later today we are headed to a family gathering on my dad's side of the family. I always enjoyed going to family gatherings as there were cousins who are in my age range that I do not get to see very often. Having moved away from the area and staying gone for 13 years it is always nice to see family that I don't get to see very often. Growing up our family gatherings were always at Thanksgiving and we would have a house full of people. My dad always did the cooking and other family would bring side dishes. We always munched on food all day before the meal. Chips, Dip, Vegetables and Sausage Snackers was always readily available while the main meal was cooking. Now my cousin has taken over the entertaining of the clan. It seems like January is the time chosen to have the family gathering. Scary thing is it has only been a year since the last family gathering and my family will probably wonder who the skinny guy that I brought with me is. My husband dropped some weight...

Bad Weather

Well yesterday we were forecast to have some pretty rough weather. We lucked out and the worst of it stayed to the south of us. I was telling my husband that there was a particularly interesting debate going on in the forums of my local newspaper online. Anyway, the debate was regarding sending the kids home early. Where do you stand on sending the kids home early for bad weather? Last spring a high school got hit by a tornado south of where I live. 8 kids were killed in the High school because school officials opted to not send kids home. Here in the northern part of the state our schools let out early on that same day the tornado hit Enterprise Alabama. I for one am glad that the schools here are cautious about sending kids home if the weather is going to turn bad. I know I do not have kids but, if I did I would want them to be safe and not in a school during bad weather. My husband and I were talking about this being something new sending the kids home early. When we were ...

Bank of America Buys Countrywide

Today, I was reading Google news and discovered that Bank of America has purchased Countrywide. To most people this would be a non issue. To me this is a nightmare come true. Let me explain when my husband and I purchased our home we got two mortgages on it. Both were with a broker who then sold our mortgages to separate banks who then in turn sold our mortgages yet again. Mortgages sold twice in less than a year. The last sale happened in the summer my second mortgage went to Bank of America while my primary mortgage went to Countrywide. That is when the problem began with Bank of America. You see just before my 2nd mortgage was sold I made my August payment. I had paid my August payment in July. I paid twice that month and the 2nd payment was applied to my principal not to the next months payment. After I had made two more payments to Bank of America they were saying I still owed for August but actually did not. I called them explained what had happened and was told to c...

Lost Boys 2

So I was surfing the message boards for my favorite Kiefer Sutherland show and I find out that they are filming a sequel to my Favorite Kiefer movie. Anyway, the more I read the more intrigued I am that we get a sequel to Lost Boys. Even though this movie is without Kiefer it is not without a Sutherland. Apparrently Kiefer has a half brother that is in the movie. All I have to say if he got his looks from daddy Donald we are in for another hottie from the family. Just wish that there was a photo of him on his imdb autobiography.

Not a Fan of Republicans or Democrats

The other day my husband was a saying how the most recent GOP debate was not all inclusive. I just do not understand if you are not a fan of the republicans why would you be upset that a debate had excluded a certain candidate for president? We are not fans of fox news either but, the hubby seemed to think that they needed a plug as well. In fact he was so put out by the fact that fox news had not included a particular candidate that he had to send them an email with his thoughts. I do agree with my hubby on thing fox news is certainly not fair and balanced. Anyway, my thoughts on fox news are that they are unfair and totally biased when it comes to elections. You can see that in the way they report the news.

Blog Anniversary

I really do not pay much attention to blog anniversary's or blogiversary's until I read Zoot's post about her blogiversary. Then it dawned on me that my blog anniversary had passed way back in August. I have blogged on and off since August of 2002. After reading her post it occured to me that I had not posted my blogging story. So here it goes. Being the geeks that we were my husband and I attended a conference in Des Moines IA called Gnomedex . I think it was the 2nd year that they had the conference and back then TechTV was still techtv and had not been purchased by G4 and trashed. We drove from our home at the time in Moline Illinois to Des Moines IA which is like driving to Tuscaloosa from Huntsville or Vice Versa. Back to the story at hand here.We heard one of the speakers named Evan Williams speak. He was the CEO of Pyra Labs which started Blogger. Anyway, we thought what the heck start a blog it can't be that hard to do. Of course not everybody ha...
