Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate......

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate...... Art had to work tonight so I am here with the kitty watching tv. I was bored so I thought that I would watch a movie and i found this movie was on. It is kind of cheesy but funny at the same time. I have long been a fan of Mike Myers and he is funny in this movie I wished that he was in more of the movie. My favorite thing about how cheesy the movie is the fact that the music is 80's music and has country music too. Two of my favorite kinds of music is country and 80's. I know I have blogged before about 80's music but I can't help it I grew up in the 80's and loved the music then. Speaking of movies I saw the trailer last night for the new Tom Cruise flick. It looks like it would be pretty interesting. We recently saw The Last Samurai and it was a good flick. I was not real impressed with the previews for the Last Samurai but it turned out better than I thought that it would be.

Yahoo! News - Thong-Wearing Men Arrested at Wal-Mart

Art and I were watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann tonight and this story was on the countdown. I find it funny that these guys did this on a triple dog dare. It was a nice change tonight to see Olbermann since the Democratic National Convention has been on all week. As I told my dad earlier tonight I have had my fill of Chris Matthews this week. He has never been one of my favorite news people but he does have a stinging sarcasm that nobody can match. Art is now saying that he wants to watch the Republican Convention at the end of August. Funny part is we are not Republican nor are we Democrats. Although being from the south I grew up in a house that was a typical democratic house. We later were known as Reagan Democrats.

Mike's Life

Mike's Life A few weeks ago I blogged about finding an old friend on the internet. I recently found out that he and his wife adopted a little boy. Congratulations to Mike and Wendy on the adoption of their little boy Sean Thomas. I had found Mike's blog listed on al.com. I thought that was neat since I lost touch with Mike and Wendy about 4 or 5 years ago.

Quad-City Times Newspaper Online - the Quad-Cities Home Page

Quad-City Times Newspaper Online - the Quad-Cities Home Page I have never been a fan of the Chicago Cubs but enjoyed Greg Maddux when he pitched for the Atlanta Braves. Being from the South I have always been a Braves fan even after living in Cubs Country for the last three years. Congratulations on 299 wins in your career you have earned it. Go Maddux.

Dwyer & Michaels - Mornings on Q106.5

Dwyer & Michaels - Mornings on Q106.5 I heard this on the radio on the way to work this morning. Steven Seagal you are a better actor than singer. Please keep your dayjob.

Yahoo! News - Woman Using Liquid Bandage Gets Stuck

Yahoo! News - Woman Using Liquid Bandage Gets Stuck I first heard this story last week on my local radio station on my way to work. All I have to say is be careful using this stuff.

Food Network: Food Network Specials

Food Network: Food Network Specials I was surfing the web looking at what is on tv tonight. I noticed that there was going to be a show talking about ice cream. One of my favorite ice cream places here in the midwest is going to be on this show tonight. It will be on at 8pm central and 9 eastern time. See why Art and I like Whitey's Ice Cream especially their milk shakes. Anyway, pretty cool that this place is going to be on FoodTV.

Miller Brewing Company - Beers and Breweries

Miller Brewing Company - Beers and Breweries I was doing my grocery shopping today at my local grocery store and happened upon the beer aisle. It is really weird when you see something on the beer aisle that you have not seen in 25 some odd years. When I was growing up my parents kept alcohol in the house including this exact beer Miller High Life. Not sure if this makes me really old or really nostalgic for the old days before you grow up, get married and join the real world with car payments and mortgages or rent payments whatever you happen to pay each month. Anyway, I just thought that it was odd to see this beer is making a comeback with all the low carb craze that is going around.    Also as I was looking at Miller beers website I found they are affiliated with another brewery Leininkugle's what really caught my attention is the name of one of Leininkugle's beers is called the big butt doppelbock beer.

Teen, family fight cap-toss penalty

Teen, family fight cap-toss penalty I first read about this on webgrits blog. I have to agree that the punishment does not fit the crime. Also being born and raised in Huntsville and graduating from Grissom. As far as I know graduation is still held in the arena. Not living in the area anymore, I know that things change over the years but somehow I don't think where graduation is held is one of them. I think the reason why all graduations are held at the vbc is that the schools would not be able to seat everybody that would want to attend graduation, plus if your graduating class is 500-600 students and no auditorium then the vbc is a good location. Anyway, I could not believe that a principal would be that strict on one student when there were other people doing the same thing. I have attended graduations where much more than throwing your mortarboard happened and were ignored by principals and school officials. All beit much of what I saw happened 16 and 17 years ago. I say to...

Dwyer & Michaels - Mornings on Q106.5

Dwyer & Michaels - Mornings on Q106.5 On the way to work this morning I was listening to Dwyer and Michael as I always do. They were talking about the automobile age gauge. It grabbed my attention. I thought that some of you all out there would remember this stuff. Some I do but most I do not remember as I am still too young for some things .

Moonshine, Illinois, Home of the Famous Moonburger

Moonshine, Illinois, Home of the Famous Moonburger A few weeks ago my mother told me about this town. The Population is 2. That's right 2 people live in this widespot in the road. It was featured on the CBS Sunday Morning Show. It is located in East Central Illinois in Clark County. I would have blogged about it earlier but my mother could not remember the name of the town. She said it was rock something illinois but turned out it is Moonshine Illinois. I have lived in the state of Illinois for 3 years now and have never heard of this town before now. Anyway, I find it interesting that this place cooks up 90 to 100 burgers a day. They start cooking at 5:30 am and stop around 12:30 noon. If a tour bus comes in it is more than that.

Entertainment News Article | Reuters.com

Entertainment News Article Reuters.com I have been a fan of Jimmy Buffett since I was in High School.  I am glad to see that he finally has a number one album. I heard one of the songs from the new album the other day on the radio. I liked it but then again I like Country Music too. Just ask Art about that.

Four Inmates Escape go On Beer Run

I don't normally blog about offbeat news but this article was pretty funny. It got my attention because it happened in Tennessee.

Days of our Lives News and Events by Soap City

As I have blogged before I am a religious viewer of this show and have been on and off for 20 years . I was saddened to hear the Kirsten Storms would be leaving the show this summer and was not real impressed with the new actress that replaced her. After one episode with the new actor they have recast the character yet again. Let's hope the third time is the charm. I find it funny that Art and I were having a conversation yesterday about how unimpressed I was with the new actor seeing as how Art is not a fan of Soapoperas.

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate......

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate...... Art and I just got back from dinner. We went to the N ew Thai restaurant here on this side of the water. We have been to the one over in Iowa and really liked it. I recommend going to the one on John Deere Road in Moline if you live in the Illinois Quadcities. The food was good and it was hot too. No waiting as we got there about 5 pm or a little after.

Art's Birthday

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate...... Tomorrow is Art's 34th birthday. Drop by his blog tomorrow and wish him a happy birthday. I figured that I would post this tonight before I go to bed not sure if I would have time in the morning. So Happy Birthday a day early.  If you want to comment please register first no anonymous comments allowed.

Day After Tomorrow, The (2004)

Art and I just got back from the movie theatre this afternoon. We went to see this  movie. It was okay not as good as I thought it would be but it was still good. I am glad that we waited to see it at the cheap movies which is closer to our house and not have to Drive to Davenport IA to see it.

New Player for the Braves

Image
Looks  like the Atlanta Braves are recruiting their players at a younger age these days.  Actually this is a picture of my Niece Olivia Frank at a braves game this year.    She lives in Atlanta with my sister Stacy and brother in law Mark.   She is the only grandchild on both sides so she is spoiled rotten.   Anyway, she will be 4 at the end of August.

PESTO SALMON WITH COUSCOUS

I am making this tasty dish for dinner tonight. We found this recipe about 1 year or so ago and we really like it. I even sent the recepie to my dad and he makes it too. I figured that I would post again today as I am spending more time on the computer this afternoon than I normally do. I will have to make this one short since I will have to skin fish soon.

Old Friends

Mike's Life As I blogged last night I told you about blogs listed on al.com I was reading some of the blogs listed in Huntsville to see if I saw anybody I knew that had a blog and low and behold I found an old friend has one here. I have not seen or heard from this friend in a long time but we practically grew up together. Our families went to the same church and his wife and I were friends before Art and I got married in 1992 and they got married in 1994. I am glad to see that they are still among the land of the living and are blogging about it. Kind of cool to find an old friend on the web.

al.com: Weblogs

al.com: Weblogs As I was reading my hometown newspaper online i noticed they have a section just on weblogs. Art and I first discovered blogging about 2 years ago at Gnomedex in Des Moines IA. We have been blogging on and off for 2 years now. As I was searching for an article in another newspaper I found they have a section on blogs as well. Anyway, I had to send an article to a friend of mine in Chicago as we went to high school together. I don't hear from her often as she has been working on her dissertation and she defended it yesterday. She is also in the process of moving in about 2 weeks to Wichita Kansas to start a new job. I am excited for her and wish Kerry all the luck in the world with her new job.

KUTV: Man in Critical Condition After He Lit Firework Inside Vehicle

I was listening to my local classic rock radio station this morning on the way to work and heard this. I say if your stupid enough to light a firecracker in a moving vehicle then you should have enough sense to roll down your car window first.

"Who's the Boss?" (1984)

"Who's the Boss?" (1984) Last night I was watching this show on Nick at Nite and I noticed that Delta Burke was a guest star on one episode. I did not know that she ever appeared on the show. I used to watch Designing Women all the time when it was on. I know I talk about TV quiet a bit but it is not what it used to be. Maybe that is why I blog about TV a lot and old TV shows that I watched growing up. Anyway, as Art posted last night he had to work so he has slept all day. I asked him if he was trying to get on Countdown with Keith Olbermann with the title of this post. It sounds something like Olbermann would say on his show.

Funny Column in Sundays Paper Huntsville Times

al.com: Living On sunday afternoon my dad told me about this column in the huntsville times. I often read the huntsville times online at al.com. The only bad thing I can say about al.com is sometimes the articles that run in paper do not always show up on al.com but for the most part I can keep up with what is going on in Huntspatch. I noticed on Saturday night that our friends Ric and Teresa had blogged again. I couldn't beleive how bad the japanese beetles are down there. We saw some japanese beetles last year but I have yet to see any this year. Last night Art and I ate dinner at this new restaurant in Davenport Iowa. It is called Hi Ho Mongolian Grill. I would post a link but they do not have a website. We had not been to a mongolian barbque restaurant in a long time. The last time we did that was 3 years ago when we went to see Art's dad in Michigan.

Village, The (2004)

Village, The (2004) Art and I do not go to the movies often but this movie looks like it would be good too. We have seen 3 of M Night Shyamalan's movies Signs being the most recent one.

webgrits - lumpy morsels of Internet goodness

webgrits - lumpy morsels of Internet goodness Today I was reading my usual blogs and came across this site. In her post on saturday july 10th she talks about how fox news leans to the right. Art comes home ocassionally and talks about how all they have on the tv in the ready room at work is fox news. Art and I were talking about it today and we would not have a problem if fox news channel would change its name to the fox opinion channel. My question is how can they claim to be fair and balanced if they lean so far to the right. Their news anchors seem to show their political colors on the air. I think that it is a bad thing for reporters to show their politcal colors on air.

John Q

Art and I just finished watching this movie. Overall it was a good film but all I can say is it is messed up. I find it hard to believe that insurance companies can treat you this way. If you get a chance to see the film it is pretty good.

Surfing the Web

This afternoon I was surfing the web and I found this post titled New Medicines Approved by the FDA at bamablog.com. I laughed pretty hard and then had to email it to all of my friends.

Footloose (1984)

Footloose (1984) I am sitting here changing the channel on TV and guess what is on cmtv thats right footloose. It is hard to believe that this movie came out 20 yrs ago. Anyway as I was looking on imdb.com I see that there is supposed to be a remake of this movie and it is from the producers of Chicago. Nothing has been updated on imdb since last year about this. Anyway I love the music from the movie and am happy to hear that there will be a remake where the actors do their own singing and dancing that is what I liked about Chicago. Speaking of 20 yrs ago it is hard to believe that this show is 20 years old. Anyway, as I was driving home from work this afternoon I decided that I would not leave the house once I got home but I really wanted a tomato sandwich but we had no bread and no tomatoes so I went to Hyvee and bought bread and 2 tomatoes. Boy was that sandwich good. Art thinks that a sandwich should have meat on it. Anyway, who thinks that I am cr...

King Arthur (2004)

King Arthur (2004) This movie looks like it might be pretty good. Art and I do not pay to see many movies at the theatre, but King Arthur looks like it might be worth going to a matinee sometime.

Fahrenheit 9/11

Art and I went to see this movie this afternoon. It was an interesting movie. I enjoyed it more than I thought that I would. You learn quiet a bit about what happened after 9/11. If you are a supporter of President Bush you may not like the film as it makes President Bush look pretty bad. Art and I just started watching this movie a few moments ago. I have seen it numerous times but I just love Nicolas Cage. He is one of my favorite actors. Sean Connery is not bad looking either.

Driving home this afternoon

I was listening to a local country station and this song was playing. It sounded remotely familiar so I came home and looked it up and to my surprise John Denver originally did this song. Well as soon as heard the tune I knew the name of the song and all the words. It amazes me how I can't remember what I did 5 minutes ago but I can remember lyrics to a song that was originally released 30 yrs ago. No wonder Art calls me the fountain of useless knowledge. The version that I heard today was done by Billy Dean. I have never been one to like covers of older songs but I really liked Billy Dean's version. I know a geek that likes country music is not very common.

Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl

Art and I rented this movie the other night. It was a pretty good flick. Johnny Depp makes a good pirate in the movie. I remember when he was on 21 Jump Street. The show was one of the first to be on the fox network.

MT Blogging

Well here I am wanting to rant about mt and how it gets spammed. We have been unable to blog due to reasons that are being worked out as we speak. It is hard to believe that June has come and gone so quickly. We went to a cookout last weekend with Art's coworkers in Port Byron IL. I met a few people who I had not before. We had a good time. They all asked why he didn't have his new toy with him. I know I have said it before we are to geeky for our own good.
